Speaking during the C-24 regional seminar recently held in Managua, Nicaragua, Dominica’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador, Philbert Aaron, highlighted that this momentum is exemplified by the opening of Consulates General in Laâyoune and Dakhla, as well as by the expansion of consular, political, and economic activities by several countries within the Kingdom’s Southern Provinces.

He also welcomed the historic adoption of Security Council Resolution 2797 in 2025, noting that it has injected fresh momentum into the political process, which is based exclusively on the Autonomy Initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.

The diplomat specifically drew attention to the discussions bringing together Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, and the "polisario", held in Washington and Madrid, which were grounded in the Moroccan autonomy proposal.

He further expressed his country’s support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy to the Moroccan Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, as well as those of the United States, aimed at facilitating this process.

He also called upon all parties to seize this "historic opportunity" to reach a lasting political solution to this regional dispute, which has persisted for half a century.

Furthermore, Dominica reiterated the importance of respecting the ceasefire and commended Morocco’s steadfast commitment to stability, as well as its full cooperation with MINURSO.

Finally, the Dominica Ambassador underscored the socio-economic development momentum currently underway in the Kingdom’s Southern Provinces, driven by the New Development Model launched by Morocco in 2015.
