Oued Eddahab Bay : Review of urban planning master chart
11/14/2008

The third and final phase of the study of the master plan project for future urban development (SDAU) at the Bay of Oued Eddahab was at the core of a meeting held Thursday in Dakhla, devoted to the presentation and review plans for sectoral development in the bay.

The preliminary project, conducted by a research department, is divided into three phases, the first and second are related to the regional diagnosis and analysis of urban space, while the third proposes plans relating to the use of resources and sectoral development in the bay.

Officials from the bureau study presented on that occasion a statement recalling the objectives of this study, compiling an inventory of various economic activities and offering "scenarios to promote a integrated socio-economic momentum in the bay for the next 20 years. "

At the end of the meeting, held under the chairmanship of the wali of the region of Oued Eddahab, Mohamed Salah Tamek, in the presence of elected representatives and local officials, it was agreed on the need to strengthen more dialogue and debate around this first SDAU version of the Bay of Oued Eddahab, taking into account the studies being carried out in the bay in addition to design and planning actions already initiated to revitalize the urban landscape.

This meeting is part of the convention on the financing and implementation of the blueprint for urban planning of the Bay of Oued Eddahab signed between the Ministry for Housing and of Urban Development, the Agency for the Promotion and Economic and Social Development of Southern Provinces, the regional council, the provincial assembly, the city of Dakhla, the municipality of El Aârgoub and the Urban Agency of Oued Eddahab .

The study concerns the Bay of Oued Eddahab and the geographical area covered by the municipality of Dakhla, including the coastline and the beach at the town of El Aârgoub.
This document will set the strategic planning guidelines in order to achieve a harmonious and integrated economic and social development at Oued Eddahab Bay and new urban areas.
