Foreign and Interior Ministers Receive New UN SG Special Representative and Head of Minurso

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, received Friday in Rabat, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for the Sahara and Chief of Minurso, Colin Stewart.

Interior Minister Abdelouahed Laftit had the same day received Stewart and reiterated the warning of the Moroccan authorities against the continuation of provocations and acts by Polisario in the buffer zone and, in particular, Guerguerat, whose consequences could undermine peace and security in the region and seriously impede the process of negotiations on the Sahara conflict.

Mr. Stewart hailed the welcome and reiterated his commitment to continue efforts to respect military agreements and return to the status quo in El Guergarate area, in accordance with the UN Secretary-General's call January 6, 2018.
