39th Anniversary of Oued Eddahab Recovery
8/13/2018

The Moroccan people commemorate tomorrow, Tuesday, August 14, the 39th anniversary of the recovery of the province of Wadi Eddahab, a glorious epic in the history of the Kingdom for the completion of its independence and territorial integrity and an opportunity to confirm the unwavering commitment of the Moroccan people to the Alawite throne as an expression of their constant mobilization in the service of the national cause.

On August 14, 1979, ulema, notables and tribal chiefs of the province of Oued Eddahab went the Royal Palace of Rabat to renew their oath of allegiance to the late SM Hassan II  thus renewing their history and reaffirming their attachment to their motherland.

By this solemn and highly patriotic act, the inhabitants of Oued Eddahab proved that they will never sell off their Moroccan identity by showing to the whole world that the Sahara has always been Moroccan and that it will remain so forever, despite the maneuvers of opponents.

It was a historic moment immortalized by the sppech in which the late Sovereign affirmed: "We have just received on this blessed day, your oath of allegiance, that we will preserve preciously, as a sacred deposit to honor this oath on our side, we also have a duty to guarantee your defense and your security and work relentlessly for your well-being, so be welcome, My dear sons in your homeland. May the Almighty bless us with by attaching the south of our country to homeland and restoring blood ties between people".

Following the path traced by His august father, His Majesty the King Mohammed VI surrounded with His solicitude the southern provinces and its people and strengthened the national mobilization to face the conspiracies of the enemies of the territorial integrity, expressing the determination of Morocco to preserve its inalienable rights.

Indeed, the development projects launched by the Sovereign in the region, and the opportunities offered by advanced regionalization to promote the effective involvement of people in the management of their business, will make the Sahara region an integrated economic hub.
