4/18/2024

The high-level economic forum on investment opportunities in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, organized on Tuesday in Madrid, is an opportunity to work on strengthening trade relations between Spain and Morocco, according to Augusto de Castaneda, vice president of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.

"This important meeting gives us the opportunity to get to know each other and strengthen our friendship, which will lead to mutual progress," said de Castaneda, stressing the importance of this event, which was held at the initiative of the Chamber in partnership with the Embassy of Morocco in Spain.
Based on this principle, the Spanish official said, the Madrid Chamber of Commerce "strongly supports" this type of event as a way to promote mutual knowledge and get to know more closely the investment opportunities offered by the region.

"Morocco is a regional economic power with a modern and diversified economy, and its strategic geographical location gives it access to a market of 2,500 million people," said the vice president of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.

He continued: "Morocco's position as a gateway to Africa and a logistical and financial center for the sub-Saharan market makes it a strategic country," he said, noting that trade between Morocco and Spain reached a record high of 12 billion euros in 2023.

About a hundred investors and large Spanish companies from various sectors of economic activity such as Iberdrola, Renfe, Alstom, Alstom, Victoria and Repsol, as well as political figures, participated in the forum.

The program of this meeting included several panel discussions led by officials from the Regional Investment Center on "Business climate and investment opportunities between Dakhla and Spain" and "Sectoral strategies for the Morocco and Dakhla region." The meeting also focused on the presentation of the new Atlantic port of Dakhla and investment opportunities in the trade, tourism, industry and aquaculture sectors.
