African Diplomats Explore Potential of Dakhla-Oued Dahab

A delegation of African diplomats visited the city of Dakhla on Wednesday to explore the potential of the Dakhla-Oued-Dahab region and the development momentum it is experiencing at all levels.

The visit, an initiative of the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies in partnership with the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation, is part of initiatives aimed at informing foreign delegations about the positive development dynamics taking place in the southern provinces.

The visit of this delegation, which includes 12 African diplomats, is an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the socio-economic take-off in the region and the outlines of the development model in the Kingdom's southern provinces.

In a statement to MAP, Ivorian diplomat Zé Yao Didié said that the visit enabled the delegation to get a closer look at the various royal projects in the region, as well as the achievements made in various productive sectors.

Among these major projects is the Atlantic port of Dakhla, which will undoubtedly contribute to the visibility of this region as a gateway to the African continent, he added, praising HM King Mohammed VI's initiative to promote the access of the Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.

For her part, Congolese diplomat Reine Claudia Okoya Kiba noted that this visit allows to benefit from Morocco's successful experience in the development of the southern provinces, such as the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.

She also praised the Royal Initiative for the Atlantic-African Ocean, noting that it will provide great opportunities to promote South-South cooperation and further strengthen the ties between Morocco and its African depth.

President of the Dakhla-Oued El Dahaba Region Council, El Khatat Yenga, said that this visit enabled the delegation of African diplomats to familiarize themselves with the development model for the southern provinces launched by His Majesty the King in 2015, as well as the project to implement advanced regionalization.

On this occasion, African diplomats received a detailed presentation on the functions and competencies of the regional council, as well as the projects completed and underway in the Dakhla-Oued El Dahab region.

Earlier in the day, the delegation held a meeting with Ali Khalil, governor of the Dakhla-Oued El Dahab region, during which they reviewed the region's development process and investment opportunities.

In addition, the African diplomats followed a presentation by the Director of the Regional Investment Center in Dakhla-Oued-Dahab, Mounir El Houari, during which he highlighted, based on supporting figures and statistics, the remarkable development dynamics in the region in various fields, major infrastructure projects, investment opportunities in this region, advantages and facilities granted to investors and economic actors, as well as the role and missions of the Regional Investment Center.

It is noteworthy that the African diplomats benefited from a training provided by the Moroccan Academy of Diplomatic Studies, which focused mainly on economic diplomacy and combined theoretical studies with practical workshops.
