Sheikhs, elected people, members of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS) and representatives of civil society in Smara expressed their complete adherence to guidelines contained in the speech by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the nation marking the 34th anniversary of the glorious Green March.

A political settlement of the Sahara would have been possible if Algeria had shown political will, "said Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr Taib Fassi Fihri.

HM King Mohammed VI said in his address Friday to the nation at the 34-th anniversary of the Green March, that "there is no room for ambiguity and duplicity: either to be Moroccan a citizen, or not”.

Morocco celebrates Friday the 34th anniversary of the glorious green march, an event of historic significance which is a reference and unique approach in the sense that it allowed the liberation of the inhabitants of the Kingdom’s southern provinces of the yoke of Spanish colonization by peaceful means.

The Foreign Office minister in charge of Middle East and North Africa, Mr Ivan Lewis, said Tuesday in Casablanca, that his country welcomes the Moroccan autonomy initiative in the Sahara, and supports the efforts made by the envoy of the Secretary General of the UN in charge of the Sahara issue.
