Morocco's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, ambassador Omar Hilale, was elected Monday by acclamation as Chairman of the First Committee of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

Guatemala reiterated, on Thursday, its "firm and unwavering support" for the Autonomy Initiative presented by Morocco as the only solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, in accordance with United Nations resolutions, within the framework of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its sovereignty over its southern provinces.
